MY NAME IS OLIVE POWELL, age 65. In 1957, I remarried and added 1 more child to my family, at which time I started to have back problems. Even back then my doctor told me he would not touch my back. So I worked until 1970 and then sold my beauty shop. I was in pain night and day. Over the years I have never been completely without pain. About 1988,1 know there was a change going on in my back, NOT for the better. In 1993,1 went to the most well known bone specialist in Birmingham. After a bone scan, he told me there was nothing he could do and that my spine was over riding itself. In 1994, a friend that I had known for 20 years, moved to Hawaii and invited me to visit. So that was where I and how I met Elizabeth Welch. On my third evening there, Elizabeth and I were sitting on the patio alone and having a very good conversation, mostly about our lives and growing up and our marriages and family. Also about our thoughts on positive thinking and our creator. Elizabeth told me that while I was there she would give me a total healing. I said that would be wonderful and we parted for the evening. During the wee hours of the morning, something woke me up. I was not frightened but lay very still, Over the lower portion of my spine, it felt like something was crawling. It went up and back down and up again. Almost like an 'S1. Somehow I knew what it was and I was not frightened and felt at peace. I said thank you and went back to sleep. The next morning I hurried to tell Elizabeth what had happened. We hugged and cried because we knew. Since that moment I have not had pain in my back. When I returned home I dreaded the long flight back. No pain. I couldn't wait to get on the lawn mower. No pain. So I thought I would really give my back a test, by carrying a 5 gallon bucket of water while I was bending over planting flowers. No pain. So you see I really felt like it was meant to be that I meet Elizabeth Welch. I give thanks everyday and am still amazed at being without the pain that I have lived since I was 30 years old.
